Fleet

Operating from Shadbolt House, the company’s Lyttelton office, the Fleet department of Independent Fisheries Ltd is directly responsible for the management and control of the fishing fleet, which is based at the port.

The Independent Fleet comprises deep sea factory vessels which provide a valuable and necessary supply of headed and gutted frozen-at-sea fish.

The Fleet department sets and maintains standards for all frozen-at-sea fish by employing a team of experienced quality controllers who carefully monitor processing and production.

Vessel operations are carefully monitored and controlled to ensure strict compliance with New Zealand’s Fisheries law, Maritime Safety laws and vessels food safety requirements.

Communications and vessel position recording are maintained via satellite.

Vessel fuelling, provisioning and all support requirements are organised by the Fleet department. All official and company reporting is the department’s responsibility.

Provisioning, technical stores and agency coverage are provided in conjunction with Independent Provedoring Ltd.
